How Our Kids Jiu Jitsu Classes Work
At Ground Game Theory, kids learn Brazilian jiu jitsu through interactive games, purposeful challenges, and live grappling.
Rather than spending large portions of class standing in lines or memorizing lengthy technique sequences, children develop their skills by actively solving problems with training partners.
Our coaches design age-appropriate activities that encourage kids to explore different solutions, develop effective grappling skills, and build confidence through experience.

Ground Game Theory is located at 9766 SW 24th St, Unit 12, Miami, FL 33165, on the Westchester–University Park border.
Conveniently situated on Coral Way near SW 97th Avenue, our academy is just minutes from FIU. We welcome families from Westchester, University Park, Sweetwater, and surrounding Miami neighborhoods.
On-site parking is available. Our gym is upstairs, through the first door on the right.
Kids Jiu Jitsu FAQs
What age can kids start jiu jitsu?
Children can start training at Ground Game Theory as young as 4 years old. We offer separate classes for ages 4–6 and 7–12, allowing children to train alongside others in similar age groups.
Does my child need previous martial arts experience?
Not at all. Our kids jiu jitsu classes welcome complete beginners. Our coaches use interactive games and positive reinforcement to help children develop grappling skills at their own pace.
What should my child wear to jiu jitsu class?
Our program exclusively teaches no-gi Brazilian jiu jitsu, so traditional uniforms aren't necessary. Children should wear comfortable athletic clothing, preferably a fitted shirt or rashguard and shorts without pockets or zippers.
Can my child try a class before enrolling?
Absolutely. Ground Game Theory offers a free one-day trial for local Miami-area residents. Your child can experience a class before committing to a membership.
