The drive from Sweetwater
Sweetwater is compact, roughly half a square mile bordered by Tamiami, Doral, and Fontainebleau. From almost anywhere inside it, SW 107th Avenue south past the FIU campus to SW 8th Street is the direct route, then east and south to Coral Way at SW 97th Avenue. It avoids the Palmetto entirely.
Why every class here is no-gi
Everything here is no-gi submission grappling. Practically, that means shorts and a rashguard instead of a heavy cotton uniform, which is no small thing in a Miami summer, and it means you are not paying for gear before your first class. It also means the schedule is not split between two curriculums competing for mat time.
Programs for adults and kids
There are adult no-gi classes seven days a week, a separate kids program, and MMA on Fridays and Sundays. Families who want to train on the same trip rather than making two drives can usually line up an adult class against a kids class.
What the first week looks like
The first week is free, with no gear to buy beyond shorts and a shirt. If you would rather look before starting, the weekend open mat is free and open to visitors.
